Domaine Marcel Couturier
Domaine Marcel Couturier
Marcel Couturier had his first harvest in 2005. Over the years, he gradually enlarged his domain.
Today, the Domaine is a reference for all the appellations of the Southern Mâconnais including “Pouilly-Loché”, which covers an area of 32 hectares (the smallest communal appellation in southern Burgundy)
Auxence, Marcel’s son, is an admirer of biodiversity and generally lives close to nature. Therefore, together with his arrival at the estate came the natural move towards organic farming and biodynamic farming, in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Biodynamics
The nature of this farming approach pays close attention to the needs of the grape vines. We do this, by developing a home-grown biodynamic compost (preparation 502 to 507), and adding it to a third of our soils’ surface area alongside numerous ploughing operations. Biodynamic preparations are applied to the vines, such as 500P in the autumn and spring and 501 throughout the vegetation period. This is a natural treatment that is based on plant purines, decoctions, sulfur, and low doses of copper.
The Harvest
Our harvests are gathered entirely by hand. This method is non-aggressive towards the vines, especially aimed at protecting the many old vines grown on our plots.
Domain Couturier will be certified in organic agriculture by the end of this year, as well as in biodynamic agriculture in 2022.
